customising rackets
Long reserved for elite and professional players, the complex customisation service of a racket is now available and recommended by The Racket Stringer. This service allows the optimization of a player's equipment to allow the player to progress in the best possible way. Thus, with a perfectly prepared racket, the risk of injury is reduced, game performance will be optimized and the player can then fully concentrate on his or her game.
matching rackets
Due to manufacturing tolerances a pair of rackets that are sold as the "same" can feel noticeably different. What this means is that "lucky racket" feeling, where one of your rackets plays better than the other, isn't in your head. Here at The Racket Stringer I can make all your rackets your lucky racket with the Racket Matching Service.
The service can also be used to match rackets of different models. Example, you just switched from a Wilson Blade to a Babolat Pure Drive to get some extra power, but you miss the heavier feel of the Blade. In many cases I can match the key specs of your new racket to your old, so it feels a little more familiar, and helps you play better.
What I change:
- Weight - How heavy a racket feels when held. Too light and the racket won't feel stable and can lack power. Too heavy and it can get tiring to swing during a long match. Typically measured in grams or ounces.
- Balance Point - Where the center of gravity of the racket is located along it's length. Too headlight and the racket will feel too 'whippy' making it difficult to time your swing. Not headlight enough and the racket will feel sluggish, making fine changes to shots more difficult. Typically measured in 'points' headlight.
- Swingweight - The most important factor in matching a racket. A dynamic measurement that takes into account the weight, balance point, length, and the speed with which the racket moves through the air. The higher the swingweight the heavier a racket will feel when swung. Typically measured in KG-CM^2.
- Customisation costs £15 / racket. This includes all measurements and equipment including lead tape and weights but does not include grommet strips or grips if required. Once your rackets have been customised the first time minor adjustments and replacements will be made free of charge when being restrung.
